Writing my interview for my double page spread + decision making

NOW THAT I HAVE THE BASICS OF MY DOUBLE PAGE SRPEAD I NOW NEED TO WRITE UP MY INTERVIEW AND CONSIDER THE INTERTEXTUALITY.
THIS IS MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD AT THE MOMENT. I NEED TO PROOF READ IT AND MAKE SURE IT WILL FIT IN WITH THE GENRE I HAVE CHOSEN.

Double Page Spread In Progress

PROCESS OF MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD:

This was the original picture i wanted to use in my double page spread when i was looking through my photos once i had done the photo shoots.

I wanted the interview to be on the right hand side of the page however when i flipped the image i didnt like the look of it.
So i needed to find another image that i may test out and see if its okay once i have flipped it.

EDITING THE SECOND IMAGE

OPENING UP A NEW FILE AND CHOOSING THE CORRECT SIZE

I have made this short videos using 'Quicktime' on the macs.

Now i have put in the heading of the article and placed a box on the right hand side of the article

Using a font editing site i have created the text i want to use:

I have decided to change this font as the font i had used before looked too creepy.

^ here is the beginning of choosing the new masthead font.
^ I have spelt 'Bear' incorrectly. I will change this

^stages of entering the heading
Here is the final heading i have chosen for my Magazine, With the correct grammer and spelling

Using a programme called photosnack i edited some images from my photos and inserted them to my double page spread
I inserted the images on the left of the page as i wanted to show the range of photos i took and the different locations,

Music Magazine Double Page Spread Analysis

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSIS
IN MY NME MAGAZINE THIS IS THE PAGES BASED ON THE MAIN ARTIST FLORENCE:

This is the article featured on florence, I like how the top article the artist is featured on half on the spread however my article will need to be alot more detailed like the one beneath which is also in my magazine. However i think this has too much text

So I went onto the internet and found another double page spread on florence which i preferred

I like the graphology of the page how florence is on one side of the page and then the article is in  3 coloumns on the other page and how is has a big subheading above the text.
I also like the big 'D' at the beginning

'LIAR'
Including:
graphology, typography, semantic field, mode of address, register, intertextuality, representation, reader-subject relationship.
What was the purpose of this article? Did it succeed?

BACK STORY OF MY ARTIST 'TRIGGY'

As it says on my front cover 'the official comeback interview' the story will be based how the paparazzi chased 'Triggy' away from the music industry and constantly harrased her everywhere she went.

-Intertextuality:She was forced to leave the eye of the media as there was always a tabloid or a story about her somewhere,
Enough was enough. However She has had time off and now has decided to comeback with her brand new album and start again.

intertextuality (what will they discuss in the piece)
semantic field (list of words you will use)
back story- where in their career does it appear?
what is the purpose of the article

CONTENTS PAGE DECISIONS

MY MUSIC MAGAZINE CONTENTS PAGE
NME'S CONTENTS PAGE ANALYSIS
Here is the contents page from the NME magazine i have, I really like the layout of this page. I really like the lines that space the different articles out and the big heading 'INSIDE THIS WEEK' however i would make this 'INSIDE VOLUME THIS WEEK' I also like the numbering of the pages however i think on photoshop i would edit out the white bits around the image to make it fit in more.

PROCESSING MY CONTENTS PAGE:

I BEGAN DESIGNING HOW I WANTED THE LAYOUT TO BE. WITH THE MAIN FEATURE OF BELLA AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THE PAGE. However it began to look too messy so i re designed it AND TRY TO SPACE IT OUT MORE.

I then went for a completely different look as i wasnt happy with how the contents page was turning out. The new look was inspired by a magazine i came across whilst searchging on the internet which is a music magazine called 'VIBE'. I think it looks different with a unique masthead 'CONTENTS'

However i dont want my magazine to be the same so I want the text to be on the right hand side of the page and an image of bella on the left but i will have a similer spread out 'CONTENTS' at the top right hand side of the page.
HERE IS A FLATPLAN OF THE NEW CONTENTS PAGE I HAVE DECIDED TO GO WITH,

Here is the image i am going to use from one of my photos i took:
The front cover shows Triggy posing and looks quite serious so i think it is nice to show a happy side of Triggy and i believe this picture is the right one for it.
Here is the beginning of designed my new contents page:

I compared the two i had been working on and asked my focus group which one they decided.
The decided on the layout of the second one but said to make it look more like the one i had found on the internet and experiment with the masthead.
The masthead i began with was 'VOLUME' (the name of the magazine) cut in half, however when i showed my focus group they said it looked like a front cover to i changed it to 'CONTENTS' and started experimenting with it

In the mean time i was still working on the other contents page as a backup if plan A failed.

FRONT COVER IN PROCES

I am stuck on whether the magazine looks better with all the text at the bottom of the page or if it looks better spread out.

One of my focus group said i should brighten the background of the first picture. So i did-

IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE SECOND IMAGE WAS THE PREFERRED IMAGE.

FRONT PAGE PROCESS

I like the look of this ELLE magazine however it is not a music magazine, But i do want to use a similar text font.

Here are some screenshots i have taken whilst creating my front cover
Here i was editing the white bits out of the artists name on photoshop to decide which one i was going to use.

In this screenshot i am editing the featured articles on the page, Choosing fonts and colours and size too
I like the look of the artists names throughout the page being in bold,

FRONT COVER: DECIDING ON THE MASTHEAD. CLASS FEEDBACK

THE MASTHEAD
I have decided that the plain "VOLUME' does not fit in enough with the music theme therefore i am going to insert and try out some music icons to make it better.

PUTTING IN THE VOLUME SIGN INTO MY MAGAZINE.....

INSERTING THE VOLUME KEY
PUTTING IT INTO THE MASTHEAD
________________________________________________
I NEED TO DECIDE WHICH MASTHEAD TO USE AS I HAVE THREE THAT I HAVE TESTED AND TRIED OUT.

THIS IS MASTHEAD ONE: with both the signs: one replacing the O in VOLUME
THIS IS MASTHEAD TWO: VOLUME spelt correctly and the one of the signs at the end
THIS IS MASTHEAD THREE: No sign at the end just one music sign replacing the O in VOLUME

I ASKED THE PEERS IN MY CLASS
and this was the outcome

Quite clearly the decision that was made was that Masthead 2 is the one to use.

______________________________________________

HERE IS A VIDEO OF ME EDITING THE MASTHEAD TO MAKE IT INTO MASTHEAD TWO
I used Quicktime Player to record the activity on my desktop.

HERE IS WHAT THE CURRENT MASTHEAD LOOKS LIKE..

NOW I CAN CONTINUE WITH THE EDITING AND DESIGNING OF MY MAGAZINE.

FRONT COVER: ARTIST NAME DECISIONS Focus Group Feedback

I have asked my focus group which name font they thought was best. I also asked whether 'Triggy' Or 'Bella Tregear' would be better.
I went onto the internet and got these fonts that i need to choose from

The name they have chosen on is :
